The decision to seek overnight support can be challenging yet make such a big difference for a new and growing family. The ideal shift is 8-12 hours to allow the doula to arrive, ask questions, and let you have a full night’s rest. Common tasks include feeding (or bringing baby to you to nurse), burping, diapering, swaddling, putting baby back to sleep, and washing bottles and pump parts.
